Celebrated Tony's 1st Birthday today.

Started out with yesterday Carolyn made Tony's cake.  We had an idea, and it worked great.  Weezy did a great job, we put cupcakes together and iced them like a cake with a big #1 on it.  I am so proud.  Katelyn then decorated the dining room.  It looks darling.  And me and Jaclyn went shopping and picked up a few things for him.  Mostly just balls, since that's what he loves.  Today we went to the lake in Fremont and all the kids swam.  We had a great time, the beach and water was clean and the sand nice and smooth.  We came home and we had cke and gifts.  Funny, he wasn't into the hoopla of it all, kinda kept looking at me, with this moody look.  So funny.  His birthday is Monday, but thought it would be better with Steve's work schedule to celebrate it over the weekend.

Good Saint Anne

Today's feast...Good Saint Anne, pray for us.

Great Saint Anne, enthroned in glory
Powerful Saint in heaven above,
Plead for us thy needy children,
Fill our hearts with God's sweet love.
Chorus
Good Saint Anne, O hear our prayer;
Good Saint Anne, O hear our prayer;
Guard us from all sin and danger,
Keep us in thy loving care.

Multiple Mass'

Also a neat thing to see is during Priest meetings Mass' many priests are saying Mass all at once.  Joe was able to serve each day, sometimes on the main altar and other times on the side altar.  There were 4 masses going on at once, one on the main, 2 on the side and 1 in the choir loft, also with 2 more altars set up in the classrooms.

Beautiful Ceremony

One of the neat things about being in Omaha is daily mass, and seeing ceremonies.  This is where young Brother Michael Geckle took his first vows and received his large scapular.

Day 1

Day one of Steve's new job went well.  He said the crew and foreman were cool.  Its really hot, heat index is above 100 degrees, so it was a hot day, but they are atleast smart enough to work early in the morn in this weather and close up in the afternoon, on days this extreme.  But tomorrow and next week are suppose to back down to the upper 80's and lover 90's which are much more do-able.  But I'm glad to know that the company handles things like this extreme heat properly.  The humidity has been insane, so I'm very happy a break is on its way.  Anyway, continued prayers for his job to be permanent, would always be welcome!

Oh, yeah...and this too...

oh, you know I forgot about the ciborium/for sick calls that the Bishop found and gave to Fr. Kasmir as a gift. He said it was very old and very, had never seen one before this. I found a pic that looked similar to it, below, but in the base was a piece that lifts and hold the holy oils, he showed us how the top opened to hold the hosts. It is so old and rare that they could not have it re-plated, only polished. Anyway it looked similar to this:

A good day...

Well had a neat day, good to have them. haha.  So anyway, with all the complaining, its hot, it this, its that, but it sure feels good to have an inspiring day.  So this week at our church we have all the Priest in for their bi-annual meetings.  They do them in July here in Omaha and they do them some other time in the year in Spokane.

Anyhow we brought my Pizzelle cookies and we made a macaroini salad.  So anyway, its pretty neat to walk around and see so many priests.  They have a luncheon and all the Priests attend, they are very busy the rest of the week, so its nice they take this short brake.  So I visited with a few, they all seemed to know who I was. haha.  Anyway, one I had spoke to in line, came over and asked if he could sit with us for lunch, that was very nice, we talked about Spokane (where he is stationed) and talked about where I'm from, both Colorado and Michigan, talked about Steve's work, the school in Michigan and our role in it, talked about Fr. Radecki and he joked that he heard Father Radecki didn't want to let us go.  That made me feel good.  He said he knew my name, and had heard about us.  So finally I get around to asking him, what his name is.  I'll be!!!!!  He tells me Fr. Kasmir!  I almost fell out of my chair.  He was the Priest, along with the Bishop that was with my father before he died and administered the Last Sacrament!  We talked about my dad, and I told him how fortunate we are, and thanked him for going.  But it was just a very beautiful moment in my life.

Then after I find out its his 25th Anniversary to the Priesthood (July 1st) and he gave me a few holy cards for it, one specifically for my mother!

So then the Bishop makes a few announcements, introduces the newly ordained Priests.  It was touching to listen to Fr. Oswald speak of people's prayers leading him to the CMRI, saving his life, saving his soul.  And thanked people for praying and asked us to continue to pray.  And then to listen to the priest from New Zealand, what a beautiful accent he has!  haha.  And then the Priests on one side and the Sisters on the other side sang a hymn in honor of the newly ordained Priests and Fr. Kasmir's jubilee that they sing at a part in the ordinations and then sang the song "Priestly heart"

Novena to St. Anne

A good mother makes a good daughter.

— Henry Ward Beecher

Bartolomé Esteban Murillo

Saint Anne Instructing the Virgin

Late 17th century

Start Novena today and ends on her feast day.

III. Novena Prayers (for special favor)

Glorious St. Anne, I desire to honor you with a special devotion. I choose you, after the Blessed Virgin as my spiritual mother and protectress. To you I entrust my soul and my body, all my spiritual and temporal interests, as well as those of my family. To you I consecrate my mind, that in all things it may be enlightened by faith; my heart, that you may keep it pure, and fill it with love for Jesus, Mary, Joseph and yourself; my will, that like yours it may always be one with the Will of God. Good Saint Anne, filled with love for those who invoke you and with compassion for those who suffer, I confidently place before you my earnest petition (mention request)

I beg you to recommend my petition to your daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, that both Mary and you may present it to Jesus. Through your earnest prayers may my request be granted. But if what I as for, should not be according to the Will of God, obtain for me that which will be for the greater benefit of my soul. By the power and grace with which God h as blessed you, extend to me your helping hand.

But most of all, merciful St. Anne., I beg you to help me to master my evil inclinations and temptations, and to avoid all occasion of sin. Obtain for me the grace of never offending God, of fulfilling faithfully all duties of my state of life, and of practicing all those virtues which are needful for my salvation.

Like you may I belong to God in life and in death through perfect love. And after having loved and honored you on earth as truly devoted child, may I, through your prayers, have the privilege of loving and honoring you in heaven with the angels and saints throughout eternity. Amen.

Good Saint Anne, mother of her who is our life, our sweetness and our hope pray to her for me and obtain my request (3x)

Memorare to St. Anne

Remember good St. Anne, whose name means grace and mercy that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help and sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I come before you sinful and sorrowful. Holy mother of the Immaculate Virgin Mary and loving grandmother of the Savior, do not reject my appeal but hear me and answer my prayer. Amen.

Twin lives...kinda...

So Katelyn met an Iowa gal from camp, she is almost as tall as Kate, maybe just as tall.  She is the oldest of nine children (her mother is expecting the ninth) they have the oppisote boys vs girls in their family so she has 2 sisters and 6 brothers and they look very similar, I even thought Sabrina was Katelyn from behind the other day.  They really hit it off and she may come to the school next year, she is a really nice girl, so I hope so.
