New Years Prayer!

THE LAST DAY OF THE YEAR
An indulgence of 7 years is granted to all the faithful with the last contrite heart, during the last half hour of the year and the first half hour of the following year, shall pray to the Most Holy Trinity in thanksgiving for benefits received; beseeching the same Holy Trinity for peace among Christians nations, for concord among Christians princes, for the conversion of sinners, and for the triumph of holy Mother Church and its visible head, the Roman Pontiff.

ACTS OF THANKSGIVING TO THE MOST HOLY TRINITY

We offer to the Most Holy Trinity the merits of Jesus Christ in thanksgiving for the Precious Blood which He shed in the Garden for us; and by His merits we beseech the divine majesty to grant us the pardon of all our sins. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father, etc.

We offer to the Most Holy Trinity the merits of Jesus Christ, in thanksgiving for His most precious death endured on the cross for us; and by His merits we beseech the divine majesty to free us from the punishment due to our sins. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father, etc.

We offer to the Most Holy Trinity the merits of Jesus Christ, in thanksgiving for His unspeakable charity, by which He descended from heaven to earth to take upon Himself our flesh, and to suffer and die for us on the cross; and by His merits we beseech the divine majesty to bring our souls to the glory of heaven after our death. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father, etc.
(Indulgence of 100 days each time.- PIUS IX. June 18, 1876)

Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, behold us prostrate in Thy divine presence. We humble ourselves profoundly and beg of Thee pardon for our sins. We adore Thee, omnipotent Father, and with the outpouring of our hearts we thank Thee for having given us Thy divine Son Jesus to be our Redeemer, and for having left Him with us to the consummation of the world in the most august Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, in which mystery of faith and love He reveals to us the wonders of His Sacred Heart. (Please say one Glory Be to the Father, etc.)

O Divine Word, most adorable Jesus, our Redeemer, we adore Thee in Thy Sacrament, and with the outpouring of our hearts we thank Thee for having taken human flesh and for having made Thyself, for our redemption, both Priest and Victim in the sacrifice of the Cross, a sacrifice which, by an excess of the love of Thy adorable Sacred Heart, Thou dost renew every moment on our altars throughout the world. O Supreme Priest, O divine Victim, grant us the grace to honor Thy holy sacrifice in the most adorable Eucharist with the homage of Mary most holy and of all Thy Holy Church, triumphant, suffering and warfare. We offer ourselves wholly to Thee, and since Thou dost deign to have victims associated with Thee, accept our offering, and, uniting it with Thine, bless us. (Say one Glory Be to the Father, etc.)

O Divine Spirit the Paraclete, we adore Thee and with the outpourings of our hearts we give Thee thanks that Thou hast, with such great love for us, wrought the ineffable blessings of the Incarnation of the Word of God, a blessing which is being continually extended and enlarged in the most august Sacrament of the Eucharist. Ah, by this adorable mystery of love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, do Thou grant unto us and all poor sinners Thy holy grace. Pour forth Thy holy gifts upon us and upon all redeemed souls, and in an especial manner upon Holy Church, the spouse of Jesus Christ and our mother, upon its visible head, the supreme Roman Pontiff, upon all Cardinals, Bishops and Pastors of souls, upon Priests and all other ministers of Thy sanctuary. Amen. (Glory Be to the Father, etc.)

An indulgence of 3 years (S. C. Ind., Mar. 22, 1905; S. P. Ap., Dec. 9, 1932). Raccolta No. 45

ACT OF THANKSGIVING FOR THE BLESSSINGS OF THE PAST YEAR

O God, the beginning and the end of all things, Who art always the selfsame, and Whose years fail not, we now, at the close of another year, kneel in adoration before Thee, and offer Thee our deepest gratitude for the fatherly care with which Thou has watched over us during the past, for the many times Thou hast shielded us from evils of soul and body, and for the numberless blessings, both temporal and spiritual, which Thou hast showered upon us. May it please Thee to accept the homage of our grateful hearts which we offer Thee in union with the infinite thanksgiving of Thy divine Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, Who with Thee liveth and reigneth forever and ever. Amen.

SUPPLICATION AND RESOLUTIONS FOR THE NEW YEAR

O Eternal Father, after having thanked thy infinite bounty for thy exceeding benefits in the past, we humbly implore pardon for our manifold sins and negligences, for the time we have consumed and wasted in vanities and in things that profit not unto salvation, and for the woeful want of correspondence with Thy graces which we have so habitually manifested. But filled with confidence in Thy mercy, so lavishly displayed in a multitude of ways, we ask Thy blessings upon our good purposes and resolutions. For now we renew the sacred promises we made in Baptism, when we first became Thy children and heirs of the heavenly kingdom, and we renounce Satan with all his works and pomps.

Firmly convinced that the salvation of our immortal souls is the one great business of life, the purpose for which we have come into the world, we solemnly resolve for the future not only to do all in our power to avoid every grievous sin in thought, word, and deed but also to shun every unnecessary occasion that might imperil our souls. We further resolve to fulfill with greater exactness and fidelity the duties of our station in life, to give more attention to our progress in things spiritual, to be more devoted to holy Mass, to receive the Sacraments more frequently, and to pray more often and more fervently.

Bless, O my God, these good resolutions which we offer to Thee at this, the threshold of a new year. Give us Thy precious grace and make us truly wise. The days and years of our life are passing so swiftly away. Help us, in Thy mercy, to utilize them, as we ought to do, for Thy greater honor and glory, for the good of our neighbor, and for our sanctification. The night cometh in which no man can work longer; soon, at best, we shall have to appear before Thee to render an account of our stewardship. May we then be found worthy to receive from Thee that divine welcome: “Well done, good and faithful servants, enter into the joy of thy Lord.”

HYMN OF THANKSGIVING
(From the Te Deum)
Holy God, we praise Thy name!

Lord of all, we bow before Thee!

All on earth Thy scepter claim,

All in heav’n above adore Thee:

Infinite Thy vast domain,

Everlasting is Thy reign.

Hark! The loud celestial hymn,

Angel choirs above are raising!

Cherubim and seraphim,
In unceasing chorus praising,

Fill the heavens with sweet accord;

Holy, holy, holy Lord.

Holy father, holy Son,

Holy Spirit, three we name Thee,

While in essence only one,

Undivided God we claim Thee;

And adoring bend the knee,

While we own the mystery.

V. Let us bless the Father and the Son with the Holy Ghost.

R. Let us praise and exalt Him above all forever.

Let us Pray

O God, Whose mercy is without measure and the treasure of Whose goodness is infinite, we give thanks to Thy most comforting Majesty for the gifts conferred upon us, and we beg Thee continually through Thy clemency, that Thou Who grantest the request of those who ask Thee, mayest not abandon them now but rather dispose them for future rewards. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

OLD YEAR AND NEW YEAR
(From Lapsus est Annus)

A year is dead, a year is born;

Thus time flies by on silent wing:

Thou, Lord, alone canst guide our course

And safe to heaven Thy people bring.

For all past gifts we render thanks;

For graces new we humbly pray.

Oh, grant that we and those we love

May ne’er from faith and duty stray.

O Lord, our daily wants supply;

Protect from sickness and disease;

And deign to give, O God of love

The blessings of unbroken peace.

Oh, blot out all our ancient sins

And give us strength to fall no more;

When fight is o’er and victory won,
Then crown us on the eternal shore.
For all the old year’s sins we grieve;
Our hearts we consecrate to Thee.
Grant us, when all our years are sped,
Our heavenly father’s face to see.
PRAYER FOR A BLESSING ON THE NEW YEAR
O sacred and adorable Trinity, hear our prayers on behalf of our holy Father the Pope, our Bishops, our clergy, and for all that are in authority over us. Bless, we beseech Thee, during the coming year, the whole Catholic Church; convert heretics and unbelievers; soften the hearts of sinners so that they may return to Thy friendship; give prosperity to our country and peace among the nations of the world; pour down Thy blessings upon our friends, relatives, and acquaintances, and upon our enemies, if we have any; assist the poor and the sick; have pity on the souls of those whom this year has taken from us; and do Thou be merciful to those who during the coming year will be summoned before Thy judgment seat. May all our actions be preceded by Thy inspirations and carried on by Thy assistance, so that all our prayers and works, having been begun in Thee, may likewise be ended through Thee. Amen.

THE SHORTNESS OF LIFE
(Psalm LXXXIX)

Lord, Thou hast been our refuge from generation to generation. Before the mountains were made, or the earth and the world was formed; from eternity to eternity Thou art God. Thou makest man to return to atoms, and sayest, return, ye children of men. For a thousand years in Thy sight are as yesterday when it is past,And as a watch in the night. Thou carriest them (men) away as with a flood; they are as a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which growth up. In the morning it flourisheth and growth up; in the evening it fadeth, growth dry, and withereth. For in Thin anger we are consumed, and in Thy wrath we are troubled. Thou hast set our iniquities before Thine eyes, our secret sins in the light of Thy countenance. For all our days are past away in Thy wrath; our years are consumed as a sigh. The days of our years are threescore and ten; and if in the strong they are fourscore years, yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; for it is soon past, and we fly away. Who knoweth the power of Thine anger, and Thy wrath according to the fear that is due Thee? So teach us to number our days, that we may have a heart of wisdom. Return, O’Lord, how long? And be entreated in favor of Thy servants. O satisfy us in the morning with Thy loving-kindness, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Make us glad according to the days in which we have been afflicted and their years wherein we have seen evil. Look upon Thy servants and upon their works, and direct their children. And the gracious kindness of the Lord Our God be upon us, and direct Thou the works of our hands upon us; Yea, the work of our hands, do Thou direct.
THE EVENING OF LIFE
(From the Rerum Deus)
O Strength, and stay upholden all creation,
who ever dost Thyself unmoved abide,
yet day by day the light in due gradation
from hour to hour through its changes guide:

Grant to life’s day a calm, unclouded ending,
and eve, untouched by shadows of decay,

the brightness of a holy death-bed blending
with dawning glories of th’ eternal day.
Hear us, O Father, gracious and forgiven,
And Thou, O Christ, the co-eternal Word,
Who, with the Holy Ghost, by all things living

Now and to endless ages art adored.

At least two injured, two may still be trapped in explosion at Wayne furniture store

This is just a few blocks from the church/school.

update Thursday evening: they have now pulled out two bodies a man and woman. Also man is being treated that was driving down the road that had glass embedded near his veins and arteries. Cleanup looks like it will be extensive.

Talked to Clare, she is fine-she was napping during the evacuation of her neighborhood-she lives two streets east of the store.

Having fun

Its so nice the kids being home. We have had car trouble. Steve has been working in the garage for the last few days with a few of the kids helping, so nice they love to work with Daddy.

I've started packing. It took three days to pack the girls room. That just tells me they are hoarders! We got their closet done, so tomorrow heading to the laundry room. We are packing anything we don't use daily. Then in the spring at Easter Vacation we will get the essentials packed.

I just love to have the kids home. They have been playing and we have been watching shows together, playing games, listening to music.

We are getting ready for New Years, I think we are just going to have a movie night with the kids. Our friends Jer and Billy are going to come out with sparkling juice for the kids. Anyway, we are hoping for a nice New Year! Lots to do this coming year.

Our Christmas

Well we made it, so what's that song, "if we make it through Decemeber..." hehe. Anyway, so we got everything done the last week before Christmas. I was so happy to find a replacement for our Christmas ornament tradition. I really love our Christmas Tree and traditions. Even the year Alex was born I would get an ornament from Walmart and put his picture on the back of the ornament, so when we had Katelyn we continued it. So for the last 15 years each child would get an ornament from Walmart and we would tape their picture. The ornaments are gold brass and flat, so anyway, two years ago Walmart stopped carrying the ornaments. Any other stores the price was way too high to buy ornaments like that. Anyway after searching every store I can find, I found a replacement. My tree looks so nice, now its only a few bulbs and the rest the kids ornament. I love looking at all the years Christmas past.

So anyway on Christmas Eve we got up early and took the kids to the movie. The Narnia Chronicle was a great movie. Anyway, it had a wonderful message of fighting evil and working through your own personal temptations to fight evil. The kids loved it. We came home had a nice lunch and took a big nap.

We got up, made dinner. Carolyn spent a few hours curling Evelyn, Madelyn and Jaclyn's hair! Anyway, we all got dressed, did a real fast pictures before heading out the door. We went to see the lights at the Wayne park. The kids were so excited. Rosa was so excited. She kept saying, "Look Daddy-ober there--its cute!" Then we went to Mass. The church was packed! What a beautiful tribute to Jesus on his birthday. The church was decorated so beautiful. Rosie wanted the baby Jesus doll! haha. Anyway, the dinner after Mass was super yummy. I needed it, Tony was a bit fussy so I had to nurse more than I usually do.

We got home, got the kids to bed and finally got to sleep pretty late. The kids slept in until 10am!

Opening gifts was so fun. The kids were so excited. Katelyn got a mp3 player, Jaclyn a piano you can take with you, Carolyn hair and art stuff. The big girls got jewelry. Joe got tools, lego's and binoculars. He was telling me the other day what the guy next to us at the gas station paid for his gas! Evelyn and Madelyn got a bunch of Barbie things, and cute dresses for them, that are really pretty nice dresses. Mikey got a train and dinosaurs and Rosie doll baby and a few things so everyone was very happy.

I got Steve jeans and a new church missal. And I got a computer and cameara so we are very blessed to pull Christmas out. Now lets cheer for the New Year!

Almost time

Well we are very excited for Christmas this week. I had a little chat with the kids. I noticed that kids tend to get a bit crabby the week of Christmas. They have been bickering a bit and I decided to give them a little talking to. I explained that they know they are about to receive gifts, and some selfishness comes into because we are getting excited, however we should make this the best week of advent, to prepare our hearts for the coming of baby Jesus, to make this a time of giving to Him, and each time we feel we want to yell or holler, or get aggravated, turn it around as a gift to the infant Jesus.

We should be preparing a warm, home in our heart. Make sure he has the warmth that only we can give to him, to fight the temptations to be uncharitable and that is the best gift we can give to Him.

So anyway, seems to have made a difference in the kids.

So I finished shopping today. I was short the last minute details, but figured, that's ok. Well then I was given a wonderful gift on Sunday and was able to get all the finishing touches up to the very last dollar, that I had to spend on batteries. So I finally found ornaments that would work for our tradition of the kids getting an ornament for the tree with their picture taped to the back.

This Christmas was one of the most frustrating but still one of the most rewarding, as far as shopping. We couldn't go all out and had to really be very careful--and juggling 9 kids-it wasn't easy. It has also come to pass, the stores are charging so much for the littlest of things, you just can't get very far with your buck. But it does cause some stress, but a more deliberate thinking of exactly what to get. I am so glad to be done, I decided to not let all the things I couldn't do, bother me this year-accept that the children will be happy and glad we raised them to appreciate the little things.

So we are very excited, for the last four months the kids have been so excited about a movie coming out. (one of the Narnia Chronicles) You can imagine the price for us to go as a family, but they have been asking us for months, Carolyn even offfered to give up any other Christmas present. We were hoping some time during January, however a parishoner, left us a card and just enough money to go see the movie and be able to get popcorn. We went back and forth if it was the right thing to do, but we thought, what makes people want to offer us gifts, is they admire our family unit, and this is something we can all go do, together, as a family-not seperate, not sending 2 kids or 4 kids with another family-something we can do together and that is something we feel is special. So this week, we are taking the kids, and make one of their wishes come true.

Well, the rest of the week should be fairly calm. A little cleaning, a little baking, a little resting until friday. We are going to the midnight Mass, and then Christmas Day we will be staying in, but expect some visitors in the evening. (Gotta have a nap first! hehe!)

Ok, gotta run! Time to go wrap some gifts-Hope this last week of advent keeps you focused on the prize: The coming of baby Jesus!

Merry Christmas 2010 at OneTrueMedia.com

Merry Christmas to my dear friends and family!

Prepare, prepare, and prepare!
Well I've spent the week cooking. Kix candy, sugar cookies, pizelle's, peanut brittle and fudge!

Working on doing all the preparations, kids have been practicing for their program.

Christmas outfits are picked out and tree is done, stockings are hung and all the kids are very excited. Two more days of school and then....freedom! hehe.

Hope everyone's advent has been blessed. We have been praying very hard this season and patiently awaiting God's answer.

Well off to bed, just a quick update. I have many pictures to post, but will work on that, another day-my pillow is calling to me!

Love you all,
Ter

Novena

In the first, O Sapientia, we take a backward flight into the recesses of eternity to address Wisdom, the Word of God.

In the second, O Adonai, we have leaped from eternity to the time of Moses and the Law of Moses (about 1400 B.C.).

In the third, O Radix Jesse, we have come to the time when God was preparing the line of David (about 1100 B.C.).

In the fourth, O Clavis David, we have come approximately to the year 1000 B.C.

In the fifth, O Oriens, we see that the line of David is elevated so that the peoples may look on a rising star in the east, and hence

in the sixth, O Rex Gentium, we know that He is King of all the world.

This brings us to the evening before the vigil, and before coming to the town limits of Bethlehem, we salute Him with the last Great O,
the seventh, O Emmanuel, God-with-us. (from He Cometh by Fr. McGarry).

As Elsa Chaney in Twelve Days of Christmas states, "They seem to sum up all our Advent longing as they paint in vivid terms the wretched condition of mankind and his need of a Savior."

The "O" Antiphons are the verses for the ancient hymn O Come, O Come Emmanuel. Taken in reverse, the first letter of these Messianic titles: Emmanuel, Rex, Oriens, Clavis, Radix, Adonai, Sapientia—spell out Latin words ERO CRAS, meaning, "Tomorrow, I will come."

O come, Desire of nations, bind
In one the hearts of all mankind;
Bid Thou our sad divisions cease,
And be thyself our King of peace.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to Thee, O Israel!

O Emmanuel, Rex et legifer noster, exspectatio gentium, et Salvator earum: veni ad salvandum nos Domine Deus noster.

O Emmanuel, our King and Lawgiver, the Expected of the Nations and their Saviour: come to save us, O Lord our God.

O come, O come, Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel;
That mourns in lonely exile here,
Until the Son of God appear.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to Thee, O Israel!

Feast of St. Nicholas (Today)

Today is the feast of St. Nicholas. The children had thier shoes put out and woke up to a big beautiful yummy orange, a little bit of candy and a little trinket. Let's just say I woke to "Yeah, look at this Mom!" And St. Nicholas has always been generous not only with our children, but Steve was given some dark chocolate covered almonds and me dark chocolate covered cherries!

Last night we read the story of St. Nicholas. I explain to the children that St. Nicholas was a man, bishop-that had a great devotion to children, but was a pastor and bishop-and the good works he did for Jesus-have been carried on for all these years-hense we give Christmas presents, as he did to celebrate and glorify the gift of Jesus in the Manger along with the Three Kings gift to the infant Jesus.

Over the years, many other stories, legends, have been created and we know all these stories whether true or made up are done in the spirit of gift giving.

Something I learned today, when reading a little more on the Saint so I would have even more stories to tell the children today was that St. Nicholas is the patron for more things than any other Saint, including Sailors, Brides, guardian of classes, people, cities, churches and those prisoned or wrongly condemed.

Below is an exert from a pretty decent source I found on St. Nicholas:

Children around the world know and love St. Nicholas—for he brings gifts and treats in December. He is known by different names—and even looks different from place to place. But, it is the same St. Nicholas who delights with small surprises and good things to eat. Nicholas gave in secret, alert to others' needs, and expecting nothing for himself in return. It is this selfless generosity which seeks only the good of the other that made Nicholas' gifts the gifts of a saint.

In the West the saint's image changed between the eleventh and twelfth centuries from a rather severe figure to the compassionate children's friend. There his main virtue came to be seen as generosity to children—rooted in the stories of rescuing the desperate maidens with gold for their dowries and of saving three children or schoolboys from an evil fate. Nuns in France began leaving treats on St. Nicholas Eve, December 5th, for the small children of poor families. St. Nicholas' gifts were usually good things to eat: apples, oranges, nuts, and eventually cookies and sweets. The custom quickly spread across Europe and St. Nicholas Feast Day, December 6th, was celebrated by both rich and poor. St. Nicholas' example still inspires acts of charity and generosity.
