Ash Wednesday

Well Lent is upon us with today's feast of Ash Wednesday.

We got up early and went to the very early Mass. Actually I learned something today.  In the "Old Rite" meaning the Mass we attend, as all my friends know we are Traditional Catholics.  Anyway as a Seminarian moves toward Priesthood they hit steps, (this was all changed in 1972) anyway, once they hit the Cleric stage they are tonsured, meaning a piece of hair is cut from the crown to signify humility.  Well today I saw the Bishop instead of putting the ashed on the forehead of those Seminarians that have reached that step and Fr. Borja but on the crown of their head, and found it very interesting.

Pray all my family and friends have a Blessed Lent, may your sacrifices be sincere and your heart be enstilled with love of Christ as you walk along the Way of the Cross.  God Bless You All.

Happy Birthday Maddie Moo...

Maddie turned 12 this week, such a great kid, happy is her middle name, so to speak.  She has got to be the best natured kid every created.  We celebrated with cake but she really wanted to celebrate with the family on Sunday knowing everyone was coming over to watch the football game.

My mom got her a book that teaches a kid how to draw, I had gotten her some pencils, pens and of the like along with some art books that you draw in.  She was into crafts but for some reason it doesn't hold her patience and she starts and stops projects but I noticed she was doodling a lot so thought I'd see if some tools would interest her more and she has been loving it so far.

Yo Bronco Nation...

ok, not to annoy those that are not sports fan, but this chance only comes up once in a great while.

We are sports fans. My mom introduced us to football when I was just a little kid. But the nice thing around here is we enjoy it as a family. I know many criticize and find it a waste of time, and that's there choice.  We do not let it interfere with our Sunday obligations, but come afternoon we are relaxed as a family and enjoy our time together.

A few years ago we were struggling a bit with the beginning of kids and teen years, it took a little getting used to on both sides.  And having a first teenage son, it was nice to have that connection between parents and son but especially father and son.  So we are very  happy to call or family Bronco Fans.

The last few weeks have been very exciting for us.  Watching the games as a family.  Joey bought me a shirt, I bought him the idenical shirt. Its been great.

We are beyond thrilled to have our team the champions, and last Sunday watching the Superbowl, we had a house full, yummy foods, friends, family, laughing, high 5's and really good times, great memories for the kids.  Our love of sports does not divide us, it brings us together, if we have plans, we have no problem skipping the game, catching up later, but this is something we enjoy as a family.

Snowed In...

I got home right in time to get snowed in!!!  Serious snowed in, it was nice to have the family time.  The kids had right after the snow a window of opportunity before the frigid tempertures came in to play.  Gwena didn't much care for it and only lasted a few minutes.

The other kids had a great time, Tony was so excited about the snowman Carolyn and others helped him build

We actually got Katelyn out for a little bit but then she volunteered to make the hot chocolate, and it exploded all over my stove...that's another story...haha.

The kids slowly came in and warmed up with some hot chocolate and we then stayed inside for a few days. haha.  It was super cold!
